Jack Dorsey’s New Title: Block Head

Jack Dorsey is no longer the chief executive officer of Block. He no longer has a title, at least.

In one submit with the SEC on Friday, the company formerly known as Square said Dorsey changed his title to Block Head. Block has updated its regulations to reflect Dorsey’s new role, removing the requirement that the company have an employee serving as CEO and chairman.

That’s another way Dorsey is intersecting with Tesla Elon Muskwho is try buying Twitter, another company that Dorsey co-founded and used to run. Last year, Musk undertake, shoulder the title of “Tesla Technology,” although he continued to serve as CEO. Musk later said that his position as CEO is “a created title.”

Dorsey has made similar comments, at least since 2012, when he tweeted, “Titles, like ‘CEO’, try to do the right thing. Respect those who ignore titles and battles. How to fight right.

Block said it changed Dorsey’s title “at his request” on April 20. The word “blockhead” is determined is “a fool” in Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary.

Dorsey founded Square in 2009 with Jim McKelvey. The company is primarily focused on payments, but has recently moved into the crypto market, primarily through its Cash App. When it changed its name to Block in December, the company speak Its former moniker has become synonymous with the seller’s business to sell goods, while the rebranding “creates space for further growth.”
