“It’s A Chance For Them To…”: Former Australia Captain Gives Big Statement On Pakistan Ahead Of T20 World Cup Final

Pakistan will face England in the ongoing T20 World Cup summit clash, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. The Babar Azam-led side took a risky run in the tournament as they somehow managed to qualify for the semi-finals, despite losing the first two group stage games. They then went on to beat New Zealand in the semi-finals by seven wins to secure a spot in the final. The final match between the two teams drew an uncanny resemblance to the more than 50-plus 1992 World Cup, which Pakistan won under the leadership of Imran Khan.

However, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody released a heartfelt statement that the team led by Babar Azam can create their own legacy in Australia by winning the T20 World Cup.

“That is the beauty of the history and legacy of the team that Imran Khan has left for Pakistan. So it was really an opportunity for Babar and his team to leave their own mark. It’s a different format than the 50 World Cup, so it’s time for a 20-20 World Cup. It’s an opportunity for them to step into new territory and leave their own legacy and mark in Australia,” said Tom Moody on Star Sports.

In both the 1992 and 2022 World Cups, Pakistan started their campaign with a loss at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In both tournaments, Pakistan had to receive defeat at the hands of India.

The similarities go even further – in both tournaments, Pakistan snuck into the semi-finals with a single point on the final day.

Meanwhile, England beat India by 10 goals in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup. England opened the scoring Jos Buttler (80 *) and Alex Hales (86*) taunted the running target 169 times as they crossed the line with four overpasses to spare.
