ISRO provides its own rocket launcher system in Agnibaan

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has provided for the first time a private launch vehicle support missile system built in the country.

Chennai-based space technology startup Agnikul Cosmos received its first flight termination system (FTS) on 7 November from ISROwith the support of IN-SPACe (India’s National Center for Space Authorization and Promotion), a one-stop autonomous government agency to promote, enable and monitor space-based activities of Private area.

“The official handover event marks the culmination of many rounds of interaction on the interface, handling and use of these systems aboard Agnikul’s ‘Agnibaan’ launch vehicle, the national space agency’s headquarters. here said in a statement on Friday.

“This also marks the first time that a system used for ISRO vehicles has been offered to support private launch vehicles built in India. The package will be used for the orbital launch system. their fully controlled sub, scheduled to launch from SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota,” it said.

According to Agnikul, Agnibaan is a highly customizable, 2-stage launch vehicle On November 4, Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC), ISRO’s Leading Center for Launch Vehicle Development, created conditions for hot testing of rocket engines developed by Agnikul. Cosmos.

VSSC successfully conducted a 15-second hot test of the Agnilet Engine at the Vertical Test Facility, Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launch Station (TERLS), Thiruvananthapuram.

The test was conducted as part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between ISRO and Agnikul Cosmos to provide an opportunity for Indian space startups to use ISRO facilities through IN-SPACe.

The Agnilet is a regenerative cooled 1.4 kN semi-refrigerated engine that uses liquid oxygen and aviation turbine fuel as propellants. This engine is made through modern 3D printing technology.

“Humbled announces that we have successfully tested a version of our patented single-engine, fully 3D-printed, semi-cryo-phase 2 engine – Agnilet – at VSSC,” Agnikul tweeted.

“Besides validating our in-house technology, this is also an important step forward for us in understanding how rocket engine design, development and firefighting is done on a professional level. One day unforgettable for Agnikul!”,
