Islamic State group announces death of leader
BEIRUT: Islamic State jihadist group said on Wednesday that its leader Abu Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi was killed in battle and announced a replacement.
A spokesman for the jihadist group said Hashimi, an Iraqi, was killed “in battle with God’s enemies”, without specifying the date of death or circumstances. The spokesperson identified the new leader of the group as Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi.
