Isaac Cruz wants the title after the match against Yuriorkis Gamboa

Via Allan Fox: Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz says he wants to challenge for a world title after taking care of Yuriorkis Gamboa this Saturday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Popular lightweight contender Cruz (22-2-1.15 KOs) will face former IBF/WBC 126-lb champion Gamboa (30-4, 18 KOs) under Errol Spence Jr. and Yordenis Ugas on Showtime PPV.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Pitbull Cruz stole the show from the Spence-Ugas fight because his fighting style would make a compelling fit with the fighting style that 40-year-old Gamboa uses.

Even though Pitbull Cruz was about to lose to 135 lb ‘regular’ WBA champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last December in Los Angeles, he was still in great demand due to the brutal bout he put up against the floating champ undefeated voice.

Cruz was overweight at 136.5 lbs on his first attempt on Friday. On the second attempt, Cruz successfully weighed at 134.5 lbs.

Ideally, Cruz says he wants to fight the winner of this summer’s undisputed clash between champions George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney.

However, it is unlikely that Cruz will have a chance against the winner of that bout as there is a high probability that the champion will play an immediate rematch in Australia.

“Sure, it’s my dream to fight for a world title,” Isaac Cruz told Fighthype when asked on Friday if he would like to face the winner of a match between George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney on June 4th or not.

“It was a very interesting bout, but I think Ugas can pull it off,” Pitbull said when asked about his thoughts on the main bout between IBF/WBC heavyweight champion Errol Spence Jr. WBA enemy Yordenis Ugas.

“Whoever prepares better wins,” Cruz said when asked who won the Kambosos vs. Haney. “It is very difficult to see Haney win in Australia. God knows the hometown crowd reached 90,000 people.

“We have a good opponent, but it will be difficult for him to face,” said Pitbull Cruz of how he sees his match against 40-year-old Gamboa going. “I am not impressed with any kind of style.

“Right now, we don’t have any plans. We will go step by step. Our target right now is Gamboa, and then we’ll see,” said Pitbull Cruz when asked who he plans to fight next.

“I really like Dallas, Texas,” says Pitbull. “Yes,” Cruz said when asked if he would like to play the winner of the match between Gervonta Davis and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.

“Let’s see if he can handle the pressure from Tank,” Cruz said of Tank-Rolly.

“He can talk if he wants to. His moment will come,” Cruz said when asked if he wanted to fight Ryan Garcia. “I wanted to talk by holding hands, not on social media like he usually does.
