Isaac Chamberlain returns to Deontay Wilder to fight again
Isaac Chamberlain is backing ‘Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder to return to boxing.
The 28-year-old has been the American’s training partner in the past and firmly believes we’ve never seen the former WBC Heavyweight champion’s last.
Chamberlain spoke to Sky Sports News in the process of building his own great war against European cruiser class champion Chris Billam-Smith on Saturday night.
When asked if he thought Wilder, who has been the subject of retirement speculation in recent monthswill fight again, he replied:
“One million percent.”
“You need characters like that in boxing, he’ll be back.”
Wilder has been out of the ring since losing his epic trilogy fight with Tyson Fury in Las Vegas last October.
Since then, the 36-year-old has enjoyed his time away from boxing, but recent rumors suggest he could return to the sport later this year.
His legendary prowess, which paid for 41 of his 45 opponents and caused Fury to take down three times in their series, was something Chamberlain himself felt.
At just 19 years old, Chamberlain caused a struggle among Alabama and was able to demonstrate Wilder’s true strength.
“He is strong, very strong. I remember I hit him when I was 19, he hit me with a headbutt, I thought I was back in London. “
“People always say that’s his strength. It’s not really, it’s his speed. He is very quick and handles very quickly. People don’t realize it and people just think he’s wild just in general.”
Wilder in the past lacked the dexterity of someone like Fury and was known to be reckless in his moments in the ring, but Chamberlain has an explanation for that.
“He’s only wild when he hurts you. But he sticks to the basics very well, he’s very, very sharp. So he’s better than people think.”
“There’s a method behind the madness.”
