Via Charles Brun: Joe Joyce proved he’s ready for the likes of Tyson Fury with knockout wins over Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois.
The more than 90 punches Joyce threw in rounds 9, 10 and 11 in his win over Joseph Parker last Saturday night would have been a complete nightmare for Fury, who is incapable of throwing any anywhere near that number.
Furthermore, Fury’s punch resistance won’t allow him to absorb more than 90 punches per round from Joyce if he doesn’t hit the deck continuously, as we saw in his match with Deontay Wilder.
The question now is whether the 34-year-old Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) is ready for Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) because, given the way he’s been beaten twice times in the last game against Deontay Wilder, you had to say no, he didn’t.
Joyce faced tougher fighters than Fury with wins over Dubois, Parker and Carlos Takam. None of those were able to make a dent in Joyce’s chin, and he ended up having to knock them all down.
Although Fury is 37 years 3 years younger than Joyce, he looks significantly older. Looking at the two, one can guess that Fury is at least 5 to 6 years older than Joyce.
What this means for Fury is that if he’s going to fight Joyce, he needs to do it soon because it’s going to be a lot worse for him if he waits any longer.
“He has an incredible Ferrari engine, and he is throwing 90 degree punches at heavyweight in round 11, round 10, round 9,” Barak Bess told DAZN Boxing Show about Joe Joyce.
“That is so special. That’s amazing, and he’s doing it with every boxer.”
Joyce is like a bigger version of George Foreman, but with the ability to throw more punches per round than he can. Foreman was a killer puncher in his prime, but he had serious stamina issues. He could never throw more than 90 punches per round like Joyce.
“I feel like Fury has the stamina to beat him; It seemed like Joe Joyce chased you through the whole fight,” Bess said. “Can Fury and Wilder deal with that? I think they are heavier fighters than anyone Joyce has ever fought. It would be crazy if he could do a Wilder or Fury shot.”
