Irad Ortiz Jr., Chad Brown Confidential meets Titles in Belmont at The Big A

Irad Ortiz, Jr. beat all the other racers at Belmont at the Big A fall meeting to secure the title of the 35-time lead driver. Hall of Famer Javier Castellano came in second [27 wins] with Manny Franco and Jose Lezcano tied for third place [23 wins]. Ortiz, Jr. claimed his 21st NYRA title following a strong summer run-in at Saratoga Speedway, where he racked up 55 wins.

Four-time Eclipse Award-winning coach Chad Brown clinched the NYRA title for the fourth time of the year with 24 winners, finishing ahead of Linda Rice in second place. [18 wins] and Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher in third place [17 wins]. It was the 11th consecutive Belmont fall encounter title for Brown. Peter Brant topped the owners chart with eight wins, ahead of Klaravich Stables and Michael Dubb, who came in second with seven wins each.

Live racing will resume Friday for the Opening Day of the Aqueduct 29-Day Fall Meeting, offering 33 shares worth a total of $6.375 million and marked with a GI Cigar Mile H. $750,000. Saturday, December 3. The first post on Friday’s card, which features the $150,000 GIII Turnback the Alarm, is 11:35 a.m. Eastern. Doors open at 10 am
