Technicians can gain access to the TrueDepth camera department including Face ID and the front-facing camera modules. They will be able to swap it out for an iPhone, according to an internal memo obtained by MacRumors.
The company says the unit can reduce the number of total equipment replacements, which will help reduce the company’s carbon footprint. While Apple doesn’t mention pricing for such repairs in the memo, it makes sense that a new part is cheaper than a replacement device.
