iOS 16 will be released on September 12

Today’s iPhone 2022 event has been revealed full of revelations with new iPhone 14″ and 14 professional – not to mention the new one See the Ultra series. But hiding in the midst of the news spilling out of Cupertino, Apple announced on Wednesday that iOS 16, on which all this new hardware runs, will available as a free download starting September 12. However, not everyone is eligible to upgrade.

Among the new features of the updated operating system is a redesigned lock screen with a focus on “communicate, share and be smart“with expanded wallpaper options, enhanced messaging and photo sharing capabilities, and improved Live Text performance. iOS 16 will also be the first release to offer Apple’s new feature. Emergency SOS Service, this will allow people stranded at home to contact emergency responders via low-bandwidth satellite communications (iPhone 14 only, mind you, because special antennas are required). ). That service will be free for the first two years, though the company has yet to announce pricing after the introductory period.

Unfortunately, if you have an iPhone 7 or later, you won’t have access to the new operating system. iPhone 8 and later, up to the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro announced today, will be announced once the update goes live.
