Investment banker Fredrik Blencke charged with drunk driving amid alcohol ban

A senior banker who was banned from drinking while on bail for allegedly hitting his wife has now been charged with high-level drink driving.

Fredrik Blencke is alleged to have crossed the legal limit four times when he was stopped in a silver Mercedes-Benz in Northern Rivers, New South Wales.

The 49-year-old man spent Christmas and New Year in jail for breaching bail after he was accused of assaulting his 30-year-old wife Annabelle Price and violating a restraining order.

Part of the father of three’s strict release conditions includes not drinking alcohol or visiting licensed facilities.

Police arrested Blencke around 8:50 p.m. on February 26 after he allegedly asphyxiated 0.183 during a roadside breath test on Byron Street in Bangalow.

Blencke, who is accused of further breaching his bail, will face Tweed Heads Local Court for drunk driving on March 21.

Two weeks before his arrest, Blencke was found to have purchased six bottles of alcohol from a liquor store in Federal, about a 15-minute drive from Bangalow.

Blencke put the wine in the trunk of his Mercedes and drove back to the palatial home where he was staying until his next court appearance.

Just hours before the alcohol purchase, police issued a formal warning to Blencke for allegedly breaching bail conditions after he was seen at the popular Casa Luna nightclub on January 28.

Judge Jacqueline Milledge released Blencke on bail on January 12 on the condition that he did not drink alcohol, consume illegal drugs or visit any licensed establishment, after describing him as ‘lost. control’.

“Not even a Chinese restaurant, Mr. Blencke,” said Ms. Milledge. ‘You’ll only eat to take away.’

Blencke is facing two counts of assaulting his wife and an unrelated charge of assaulting a police officer following an incident outside a Sydney pub last year.

He was staying at Lune de Sang, an award-winning 146-hectare timber plantation in the Byron Bay hinterland owned by one of his friends.

This luxury estate was one of two filming locations for Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers mini-series starring Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, and Luke Evans.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Blencke specializes in providing private investment management solutions to high net worth clients.

But an old friend of Blencke told Daily Mail Australia his contract was terminated after he was released from prison.

Police allege Blencke assaulted Ms Price inside a Sydney Children’s Hospital ward, prompting several nurses to rush to her aid and order him to leave.

The court said that a month later, Blencke was aggressive inside the couple’s luxury Vaucluse mansion, where they paid $3,400 a week in rent.

Released on bail despite objections from the police prosecutor, who insists he posed an unacceptable risk to his estranged wife.

Prosecutors noted that Blencke had previously breached bail and that a violent arrest warrant was in place to secure Ms Price’s safety.

Court documents say Ms Price phoned Blencke to inform him that their daughter was hospitalized on November 14 and he was chatting on the phone.

On December 15, Blencke allegedly ‘punched’ the island bench in the couple’s kitchen, causing the chair to vibrate so violently that a 12-month-old was sitting on the high chair nearby can be felt.
