The trailer for the new Lord of the Rings series was dropped on Thursday, and Twitter caught fire as people pointed out similarities between it and Kath and Kim’s prologue.
Fans note that both of the series’ intros feature scrolling footage of the main characters.
One person bluntly called it: ‘This is really Kath and Kim’s intro.’

Soon after, a fan-made mashup that replaced the orchestra’s original score with Kath and Kim’s upbeat theme song went viral online – and quickly went viral.
Social media exploded over the hilarious edit, with one person tweeting: ‘This is absolutely sensational’, while another user called the mashup ‘awesome’.
Both The Lord of the Rings and Kath and Kim are hugely popular series starring instantly recognizable characters.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series is the latest installment of the series and a prequel to JRR Tolkien’s novels.
Meanwhile, after months of speculation, it looks like a Kath & Kim reboot could be in the works.
Stars Gina Riley, Jane Turner and Magda Szubanski have reunited for a project that is being filmed ‘secretly’ in Melbourne, TV Tonight reports.

There’s no word yet on whether the new project will be a revival of Kath & Kim, or whether original co-stars Glenn Robbins and Peter Rowsthorn will be involved.
The news follows reports that a special and full series by Kath & Kim is in the works.
In June, The Daily Telegraph announced there would be a special ‘celebrating the most beloved characters’ and ‘memorable moments’.
