Instagram’s latest experiment makes it easier to support social activities
Instagram is solving some of the trouble when it comes to supporting a noble cause. Social network is test a feature that gives you the option of backing up a movement when you search for its hashtag. You’ll see an option to “spread the word” via direct message or Start fundraising! to provide material aid.
The quiz focuses on a “few” of hashtags related to well-known social causes, including #BlackLivesMatter, #climatecrisis, and #womensrights. Instagram says it consulted with a group of relevant organizations, such as the GLAAD and the NAACP, before deciding on this first list. The social media giant said it will work with others to expand the range of eligible topics.
The experiment is not surprising. A feature like this could encourage more people to use hashtags and direct messages. In turn, that can keep you on Instagram, where you might be tempted leave TikTokwhere “Contribution Stickers” has long been an option for creators hoping to garner support.
