Inspire joy and peace by refreshing your home with Target

This post was created in partnership with Target

I’m excited about the fresh start the new year brings – even if it’s a symbolic one. It’s been almost a year now that we’ve been in our own home and our house has become our home. If, like me, you feel the need to refresh your space and infuse it with a different energy, a sense of lightness, happiness and peace, keep reading for a few ideas and tips. Simple and to see some great works from Target’s new home collection.

Refresh the entrance

Going home these days seems a bit different to me. When I get home, the first thing I do is take off my mask, put away my things, and wash my hands. It’s important to think about the function you want a space to have, but also about how a space can grow and adapt with us as we go through changes and have different needs. together. While your old entryway may not have room to store masks, chances are your 2021 entryway will need one. So if you need a place to stash your masks, wallet, keys, and anything else that you normally bring into your house these days BUT you don’t want to give up precious space in a place that may already feel feel like a crowded house, consider something like this remote control. It is great because of its small configuration, and more memory.

Also, a little color tip… if you’re ready to transform the color story in your entryway but aren’t sure what your new color scheme is yet, try using black and white as the base and then cover with more color through art, plants and warm woods. It keeps a space looking graphic and chic, and the warmer tones added ensure the space doesn’t feel claustrophobic. Alternatively, you can always change the accent color over the years, but as long as you have some predominantly black and white pieces (like black Wall bracket, remote control and black and white graphics carpet) spaces will always be pulled together.

Refresh the living room

Whenever I want to freshen up a living room, I like to start with clearing the space because any high-traffic area in the house will always have some forgotten corner where it piles up. Clearing out places that are rarely visited will really help with energy conversion if your home is feeling a bit stale. Once you’ve cleaned all those nooks and crannies, it’s energizing to have a new palette to work with. Another way to clean up the space is to freshen the space with plants. Nothing enlivens and activates a space like plants. Here, I have mixed some fake plants with real plants (can you tell which ones are real? Some of them even fooled me at first!).

You can also try moving furniture around a bit. One thing that we noticed in my house during this time is that we need more open space because every room has to be multifunctional. Replace a heavy coffee table with small side tables (I love its rustic look wooden side table) or a large club chair with a light weight chair (such as Cloud opalhouse picture above) makes it easy to turn your living room into a yoga studio or gym in a jiffy. Finally, switching textiles – adding new pillows, treating windows, changing carpets, or even just moving them around or layering them, can do wonders to change the pops of a room. Room and space transformation – small investment, big impact!

Refresh the main office

I don’t know how long we’ll be working from home, but it might be time to upgrade temporary WFH setups to a suitable home office where everyone can focus and feel inspired. . Here, I’ve rounded up two ways home office setups can be achieved in small spaces. First, I like to use rugs to define the office “zone”. That way, even if your office is in the dining room or bedroom, the rug creates a visual boundary that marks the area. Utilizing wall space for storage can also help define a “work area”. Floating shelf provide more surface area, a place to keep new plant office friends, and Visually signals to our brains that we are entering the workspace when we see our supplies (pens, pencils, notebooks, calendars, etc.) on display. Soft wall colors can also do wonders for concentration! It’s another way to define your workspace with the rest of the house.

And office spaces don’t have to feel “office” or clinical – especially not when they’re in your home. They can be fun, cozy and reflect your personality! Take advantage of the fact that at home there are no rules about how to keep your desk. For this office we used pink and gold accents and an emphasis on wall art (I can’t help myself as I have one for Opalhouse). Peacock and cockatoo pictures). And your home office certainly doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. This entire office setup can be put together for around $400.

For me, switching things up at home is part therapy and part art. I feel revitalized when I make my space a little cleaner or prettier, or take the time to add fresh flowers or plants, paint or change my pillows or window decorations. I. It is truly amazing how these small changes can make a big impact. And in times like these, when we spend a lot of time at home, it can really bring some joy and peace into our lives. Here’s hoping that’s what 2021 is all about.
