EFB Indigo NextGen Program

“The ‘NextGen EFB’ program equips pilots with faster, more efficient and brighter aircraft iPad Tablet 9th generation device, featuring powerful A13 Bionic chip and 10.2-inch display retina display. According to IndiGo, the feature provides pilots with pre-loaded documents, charts and integrated performance tools for precise aircraft tracking.

India IndiGo introduced Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) on its ATR fleet in 2020, and has operated around 450,000 flights using the technology. “The digitisation of EFBs has resulted in significant improvements in operational efficiency and a reduction of 15kg of paper from each ATR cockpit, contributing to a reduction in carbon emissions,” the airline said.

“We are delighted to launch the ‘NextGen EFB’ programme, a major milestone in IndiGo’s commitment to technological advancement and our valued pilots. This programme will not only enhance operational efficiency but also empower our ATR pilots with the latest tools and resources. We are starting with the existing EFB applications in Phase I, with plans to expand the functionality and eventually achieve a completely paperless ATR cockpit in Phase II. We will also integrate the Electronic Flight Folder (EFF), which will revolutionize our current paper-based processes by automatically importing flight briefing folders into your EFB device before every flight. As we embark on this exciting phase, we will continue to introduce cutting-edge technologies designed to streamline our operations and improve the customer experience,” said Captain Ashim Mittra, Senior Vice President, Flight Operations, IndiGo. IndiGo said.

The program is said to provide pilots with greater flexibility and control over pre-flight preparation, training and ongoing learning. Additionally, according to IndoGo, the ‘NextGen EFB’ iPad facilitates seamless communication between pilots and the company.
