Indiescovery Episode 2: Our most anticipated indie game of 2023

To prove that our ability to host a podcast episode isn’t a fluke, the Indiescovery team is back! Going forward, this will be a biweekly podcast, but we can’t wait to share our thoughts on this year’s best upcoming indie games, so we decided to release Episodes 2 a week early, as a gift (a bonus for us, really, but we hope you enjoy it too!).

episode notes

We started off with a nice little chat about what we’ve all been playing since we got back from the Christmas break. I eagerly praise the virtues of Tiny life, the spiritual successor of pixel art to the classic The Sims has just been in early access. Liam likes the same retro style The Nightmare of Decay because it’s like Resident Evil, but somehow even more gory, and also a nice word for the upcoming open-world parkour-precision platformer Ballistic meditationis out tomorrow, January 25th. Rachel, meanwhile, recently talked about a magical 90s nostalgia ride. A space for the uninhibited.

After that brief recap, we’ll take a brief tour of the most anticipated indie games slated for release in 2023. I start with Anemoiapolis: Chapter 1 and inevitable – neither of which is something I know much about, except that both are precisely shaped which is my preference. I also wish to have a different view of romanticvaniaSide-scrolling horror dating just can’t be my favorite if it tries.

Liam’s beloved Hypnospace Outlaw gets a sequel and a spinoff in dream settler and the killer X respectively, if you can believe it! He also can’t wait for the reverse city builder Land of Nillooked so peaceful that we all wanted to cry a little.

Rachel also sent Mary Poppins-esque Metroid-like gunfire from the makers of Gato Roboto. She follows this with Desire to proposean action RPG-plaftormer about learning to forgive your flaws and get over your ex through skate battles and family-style cooking.

We end the discussion with a big love festival for demon school because, it turns out, we’re all so excited about Demonschool.

In our latest super fix collection, I have a full case of post-match blues after finishing the whole thing. Attorney Ace .’s Turnabout Collection. Liam read Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow And Tomorrow And Tomorrow, a novel that is an industry favorite today for its insights into game development and the rarely-spoken love that exists between the collaborations. genuine member. And Rachel unboxing her replica ice Board games are broadcast live, accompanied by exhilarating audio descriptions.

We also get lost in a few random incidents, such as a quick chat (no spoiler!) on The Banshees Of Inisherin; a brief, friendly disagreement about which Sims game is best; and revealed that my rarely evil personality seemed to be activated when I drank a second cup of coffee.

This video is not a podcast, but they combine very well.
