India’s smartphone shipments fell 11% in Q3 2022; Xiaomi leads with the highest market share: Counterpoint
According to the latest data of Counterpoint research, India’s smartphone shipments fell 11% year-on-year in Q3 2022, reaching over 45 million units. Chinese electronics brand Xiaomi has secured the top spot among other smartphone brands with a shipped market share of 21%. Samsung closely follows Xiaomi to stay in second place with 18% market share. Vivo and Realme are ranked in third and fourth place respectively, followed by Oppo in fifth place. India’s smartphone shipments in Q3 2022 also saw Apple reach its highest-ever market share of 5% in the Indian market. Q3 was also the first time that an iPhone (iPhone 13) topped India’s quarterly total smartphone shipments chart.
A recent Counterpoint study reports that smartphone shipments in India see a decline 11% YoY in Q3 2022 to reach more than 45 million units. Although Xiaomi’s shipments for the year fell by 19%, the Chinese company maintained its lead with a 21% market share. Xiaomi was also the top 5G smartphone brand in Q3 2022 in India in the sub-Rs segment. Price range 20,000.
South Korean electronics brand Samsung ranked second in the quarter with an 18% market share. Samsung was the top smartphone brand in India in September this year. The quarter also saw US tech company Apple hit its highest ever Indian shipping market share of 5%. The iPhone 13 became the first iPhone to top the total number of phone shipments in India for a quarter.
