India will host World Dairy Summit next week, PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate it | India News


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the World Dairy Summit (WDS) 2022, a conference of global and Indian dairy industry leaders, experts, farmers and policymakers, in Greater Noida on September 12.
The Summit will be held in India 48 years after it hosted the International Dairy Congress in 1974. During the 4-day Summit, India will showcase its transformation journey. The unique small-scale dairy farming industry is mainly based on a cooperative strategy.
The conference will feature many discussion sessions around the theme “Milk for Nutrition and Livelihoods” covering different aspects of dairy farming. Approximately 1,500 participants from 50 countries have registered to participate International Dairy Federation (IDF) WDS 2022. India currently leads the world dairy industry with a growth of 6% and milk is its largest agricultural commodity worth Rs 9.32 lakh crore, accounting for 23% of the global market share.
