IMC 2022: Reliance Jio introduces 5G connected ambulance; robotic arms and more
In another use case involving medical emergencies in rural areas, Jio’s booth is showcasing a robotic arm. With the help of the high speed and low latency of True 5G, the company says, a radiologist or sonographer sitting hundreds of miles away from a patient in rural areas can perform ultrasounds as well as scans. X-rays in real time. This will make it possible for people in such areas to access their medical needs without having to travel long distances. Ultrasound and X-ray reports may also be delivered at their home.
Many frontline workers lost their lives in the hospital’s isolation ward during the Covid-19 outbreak. To avoid further loss of life in such situations, Jio is also working on “Jio 5G Healthcare Automation”. The technology will include 5G-controlled robots that can deliver medicine and food to isolation wards and other patients. With these cloud-driven 5G robots, the chance of failure is low. Furthermore, the maintenance and disinfection of the robot will be carried out by a robot fleet management system.
Reliance Industries President, Mukesh Ambani, reiterated that Jio will launch affordable 5G services in India on Diwali and by December 2023, next generation connectivity will be available in every town of the land country. He said that 5G as a foundation technology will unlock the full potential of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Robotics, among others.
