As of 2023, Comb Sean (who also goes by “Diddy”) has steadfastly maintained that bonding abuse complaints, attackand misconduct against him is a lie, created by people looking for payout or worse. But on Sunday, he reversed that position, admitting to a 2016 attack that he had previously — and repeatedly — denied.
The pivot followed the release of one shocking video on friday reflects an attack outlined last year by Cassie Ventura, a model and singer who was with Sean Combs from 2007-2018. In the video, it’s the first time Published by CNNA woman who appears to be Ventura is attacked by a man we know to be Combs, and is punched, kicked and shoved as she tries to leave the hotel room.
The incident depicted in the video is extremely similar to the attack that Ventura described when she filed her civil lawsuit in November 2023. lawsuit against Combs. Saying her relationship with him was marked by physical violence, abuse and sex trafficking, Ventura – who met Combs when she was 19 and he was 37 – said that after an incident in 2016, Diddy was accused of forcing her to have sex with a male. While the worker was watching, he fell asleep and she tried to sneak out of their hotel room. He woke up, she said in the suit, followed her outside and attacked her. According to Ventura, Combs later paid $50,000 for security footage of the incident.
After the lawsuit was filed, Combs’ attorney Ben Brafman rejected that and many of its other claims. “Mr. Combs vehemently denies these outrageous and outrageous allegations,” he said in a November 16, 2023 statement.
“For the past six months, Mr. Combs has been subject to Ms. Ventura’s persistent demands for $30 million, under the threat of writing a damaging book about their relationship, which has been denied. Absolutely quitting is a blatant act of blackmail. Despite withdrawing her initial threat, Ms. Ventura has now had to file a lawsuit with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs’ reputation and seek a payday. wage.”
The next day, Luoc deal with Ventura for an undisclosed amount, but continued to deny the incident occurred. “The decision to settle the lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing,” Brafman said.
“Mr. Combs’ decision to settle the lawsuit in no way undermines his categorical denial of the claims. He is pleased that they have reached a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.”
Combs reiterated that denial again the following month, after three more women filed a lawsuit against Combs alleging rape and sexual assault. This time, Combs himself responded with a statement “Over the past few weeks, I have sat silently and watched people attempt to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy. Disgusting allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday.”
“Let me be absolutely clear,” he said in his December 2023 statement. “I have not done any of the terrible things alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for truth.”
That position changed abruptly on Sunday, when mogul posted a video admitted the attack on Instagram. “I’m really sorry,” it was simply captioned.
“It’s hard to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you have to do it,” he said of the Ventura attack.
“I was crazy – I hit rock bottom – but I made no excuses. My behavior on that video was inexcusable,” he said. “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” Combs continued, appearing to speak into his front-facing camera. I come from a space with high ceilings and many windows.
“At the time I felt horrible doing it. Now I feel disgusted. I went and sought professional help. I started going to therapy and rehab. I had to ask God for mercy and grace,” Combs said of the incident, which to this day, he still denies.
