Swiatek earned his spot at the US Open after winning from behind in the semi-finals. After dropping the first set to Aryna Sabalenka, Swiatek recovered, eventually winning 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Saturday’s match between Swiatek and Jabeur also made US Open history. Swiatek became the first Polish singles player to achieve and win the US Open title. Meanwhile, Jabeur is First African, Arab and Tunisian women to play in the US Open final.
