I won’t have to drown a horse anymore thanks to the new Minecraft update
It’s here at last: the Minecraft 1.19.50 update is out and it’s bringing plenty of camel goodness as well as other nice surprises.
This update was promised to us in October in Minecraft Live. We’re excited to see the main designers and spokespersons of Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons – Agnes Larsson and Jens Bergensten – discuss their plans for next year’s new content.
First and center is the 1.19.50 update, which promises a new tone to the blocky adventure game. However, this time, instead of a consistent theme like previous years (including cave updates or nature updates), this update will be themeless.
Instead of a restrictive structure, the team at Mojang will add elements that they want to see in the game regardless of whether they fit together or not. That’s why the new trials of bamboo blocks, interactive bookshelves, and camels don’t seem to stick together – at least not at first.
Lifeguards
We, horseback riding enthusiasts, should be delighted by this new lease of life from the Mojang team. The addition of camels will save the lives of countless horses because quite simply, camels can swim.
Well, more specifically, they can wade in water. But this is a game changer for exploring the world of Minecraft. The terrain is bisected by bands of rivers, lakes and oceans scattered as a constant around the world, so it is a relief to traverse these rivers without resorting to violence. force.
Before camels, horses were companions for speedy expeditions. However, their biggest fault is the lack of water safety skills. As you ride around, you’ll have to avoid crossing the river altogether or launching your horses into the river and watching them struggle desperately for air as you try to cross the shallow riverbed. Although I’ve never drowned a horse, it’s not for lack of trying.
Better for everyone
However, this new update is not just a lifesaver for horses. The decision to forgo the much-loved themed update was a hard pill to swallow, but it was ultimately necessary for the Mojang team’s sanity and creativity.
It was discussed in Minecraft Live 2022 that themes in previous years did more harm than good to the developers. Ultimately, developers will be creatively tied up by sticking to a particular theme, meaning they tend to promise more than they can produce.
Previously, Mojang announced features that they were unable to deliver due to workload, stress, and time constraints. A good example of this can be found in the 1.17 Cliffs update. A lot of great things came out of this update, but Mojang promised an archeology feature that never materialized.
Transparent minecraft live (opens in a new tab), developer Agnes Larsson said this year, “it’s important that we learn from that and take action.” As a result, Mojang has promised to publish only features that are nearing completion to avoid disappointment and abandon themes altogether. This means that the additions to Minecraft will be really useful and not just a way to tick a thematic box.
So don’t be disappointed if you expect more from this update; as the year goes by we will see more elements introduced. In the meantime, be thankful that after a month of waiting we were provided with all the camels, bookshelves and bamboo blocks we could have wished for.
