Ahead of his fight with Tommy Fury in February, Jake Paul outlined his future in the sport – and it’s taking over completely.
The boxer from Cleveland was famous on the Disney channel before becoming a YouTube superstar. His latest passion, however, is boxing, and he has a distinct talent for getting fans talking about him – favorably or not.
Despite his 6-0 record which includes a YouTuber, a basketball player and three retired MMA fighters – he has fought one or two – the 26-year-old is extremely confident that he will win the world championship in the not too distant future. .
He talked about his skills with Sports sky before making a claim.
“I found my inner peace in that goal and knew that was the goal I was doing every day when I went to the gym, knowing I was up against world champions and do something extraordinary before them. So who knows what could happen two to three years from now when I hit my athletic peak.
I started to really, really love this sport and all aspects of it. Everything is clicking faster and faster, and I can make minute-by-minute adjustments in real time, and stay happy and fluid. It’s really really scary what could happen.
I don’t think I’m just going to be world champion, but I think I’m going to be world champion dominating and knocking someone out for the title.”
Since his weight hovers around 190lb and his next bout is set at 185, Paul is likely looking to conquer the cruiser weight class. The current world champions are Lawrence Okolie, Jai Opetaia, Ilunga Makabu and Arsen Goulamirian.
The first is Fury. The British boxer who is half-brother to the current world heavyweight champion presents a test to Paul in the sense that he is the first competitor of the same age, height and experience.
The couple will lock horns in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, February 26live on Sports ticket office BT and GAME+. Fury has said in the past that he also intends to enter the world titles. It looks like a man’s dream will end next month.
