‘I feel like I’ve left my body’

Chris Arreola compared the punch power of Vitali Klitschko and Deontay Wilder in a recent interview, revealing the former world champions possess a different kind of force.
Klitschko and Wilder are considered two of the hardest heavyweights to hit in the last twenty years, and there are few better people than Arreola to compare them with.
‘Nightmare’ faced Klitschko at Staples Center in 2009, before spending eight rounds against Wilder in 2016, and explained the contrast in their respective punches when speaking to ES . News.
“They have different kinds of power. Klitschko hits you and he’s trying to get through you, but when Wilder hits you, it’s like a whip.
When Klitschko, he hit me and I felt like a guy came out of my body, I felt like I came out of my body, he hit me like hell.”
Arreola has not competed since losing to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2021, however has recently been involved in fights with the likes of Derek Chisora and even Anthony Joshua.
The 41-year-old may soon receive word from his old nemesis Wilder, with ‘Bronze Bomber’ Will Likely To Take On Ruiz On His Own In Final Elimination Match For WBC World Title.
The governing body ordered an all-American clash at their annual conference in Acapulco last November, with the winner becoming the mandatory challenger for the belt now held by Tyson Fury.
Although Wilder and Ruiz have both signed for Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions and the match should be easy in theory, negotiations appear to have stalled in recent weeks.
Wilder’s coach Malik Scott has admitted he’d prefer a fatter bout with Anthony Joshua rather than confront Ruiz.
However, with ‘AJ’ prepares to fight Jermaine Franklin in AprilThis is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
