‘I can’t bear this bloody thing’: King loses patience with leaky pen as he signs visitors’ book in Northern Ireland | UK News

This afternoon, a pen faced the King’s wrath when it began to leak as he signed a book for visitors in Northern Ireland.

The king became frustrated and swore when the pen malfunctioned – and it doesn’t appear to be the first violation.

The king was at Hillsborough Castle in memory of his mother, Queen.

When he signed the book, he had to ask an aide what the date was, because he had written it wrong at first.

After finishing his note, the King passed the pen to Camilla, the Queen.

At this point, he lost his temper with the offending lute.

“Oh my, I hate this,” he said.

His wife replied, “Oh, it’s going everywhere” as the King wiped the ink from his hand.

An aide intervened and took the pen from the Queen Consort.

“I can’t stand this blood… it stinks every time,” the King said as he walked away.

The king also needed assistance while signing a document earlier in the succession process.

During the Accession Council at St James’s Palace on Saturday, His Majesty clapped his hands repeatedly at an inkwell on the table and waited for an aide to come pick it up.

A former aide told Reuters that, while the King can be cheerful, he is also short-tempered and demanding.
