And we finally got a hold of this busy bee, who’s been running a packed schedule these days for an exclusive interview to learn more about her cinematic experience, her journey from… compete to the big screen, work with Ayushmann Khurrana, future projects and more. Excerpt:
How do you feel when you’re ready to venture into a new world of fanfare?
I’m happy to work towards the goals I envisioned years ago. But, it’s both suspenseful and tense. There’s so much to learn and no specific way to learn about it. So a person must always be on their toes.
Acting has always been your passion?
I wouldn’t say it was a childhood dream, but I’ve always wanted to do it for as long as I can remember. My parents and teachers always encourage me to participate in different activities. At school, we were never forced to focus solely on our studies; We are always pushed to become more dynamic. So I started developing my love for acting and dancing at a young age but never thought I would pursue it as a career. Then, in college, when I started doing theater, I realized I wanted to be an actor.
How has your journey been so far after your reign at
When I look back, I am grateful for the journey that I have come through. I started working right after the competition. I’ve done enough work to sustain myself in a city like Mumbai. I have shot many commercials, music videos and brand campaigns. I auditioned quite often and I am very grateful to the team. My biggest takeaway is that acting, like any other job, requires constant effort. So you have to make it a priority in your routine. Daily practice is the only way forward. Also, most things are out of our control, so we need to learn to let go.
Although we’ve seen grooves in a few music albums, your feature in Doctor WOOD will show us a new side of you; How do you feel about your debut performance?
I think I justified the character. I was so excited to see myself on screen and wanted to cherish this moment. There is always an area for improvement and that is just the beginning for me. I will always put the graph up.
Ayushmann Khurrana is one of the most popular, versatile and talented actors in the industry and having the opportunity to work with him is a blessing. How was your experience?
Aside from being a great actor, he’s also a great human being. He is very humble. His energy is so positive. I remember when we re-enacted our scene, I was quite nervous. However, he was extremely patient with me. He told me that behind the scenes there is always chaos, and you have to find your moment. As a performer, you get nervous most of the time, but you have to accept it and work on it.
There’s no doubt the audience enjoyed it, but as a part of the movie, what’s your opinion Doctor WOOD?
Doctor WOOD is a comedy on the medical school campus. It’s an exciting journey of an aspiring chiropractor (played by Ayushmann Khurana) becoming a gynecologist and the difficulties he faces as the only male student in a school. The class is all women. The film emphasizes humor. The trailer was really well received by the audience. I’m sure everyone will like the movie, especially young people.
Well, this is just the beginning for the gorgeous queen, who is also currently awaiting the release of a web show that is currently in production and is filming for another web series that will go live soon.
