I adore Hylics secrets of hand-crafted art and practicality

i still say Hylic games are some of the best looking games around, with an outstanding combination of clay making and video capture. So I was happy to realize that, without my knowledge, creator Mason Lindroth occasionally posts behind-the-scenes images of props and animations on Twitter. It was interesting to see the original hand-crafted numbers. And it’s funny to find out that the process of animating a character’s hand involves wearing a small green cardboard display that resembles a shroud while threading the gloved arm. Sexy through the hole.

For starters, check out this sassy pair:

But what, on the left, where does their hand animation come from? Wells…

I can’t stop laughing about this. It’s both very funny and a clever cheap technical solution.

On the topic of gloves, check out this cool guy! I’ve read that body is tender flesh but is it really a bunch of nitrile gloves that look like a mutant bowtie blouse or a ghastly wedding dress? A magical transformation!

In more hand secrets, here’s an alternative where Lindroth doesn’t need the complete dexterity of real hands with blue screens:

It’s interesting to see the original concepts for some of these geeks:

Lindroth recently posted clever cuts, the effect of a CT scan or moving across a surface (and, like another tweet demonstrate, green plasticine can be used as a screening material to support unwieldy shapes):

I don’t know what’s next from Mason Lindroth but I’m definitely following them on Twitter, because I don’t want to miss any more. To do overcome for more interesting behind-the-scenes photos.
