Hyundai Motor Company has announced that its global sales of plug-in vehicles increased rapidly in February 2023, recording a whopping 70% growth last month compared to the same month of January a year ago. The automotive group, which includes the Hyundai and Genesis brands, said its total plug-in vehicle sales jumped 70% to 30,364 units last month, including 25,172 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 5192 plug-in hybrid. vehicle (PHEV). This marks a 77% growth for BEVs and a 44% sales increase for PHEVs.
The Korean auto group said its global vehicle sales in February this year amounted to 327,718 units, up 7.3% from a year ago. While disclosing these numbers, Hyundai Motor Company has said that its focus is on rapidly expanding sales of plug-in electric vehicles, which in February of this year hit a new record.

The automaker group also said it has maintained its electric vehicle sales momentum by selling more than 20,000 units in February, led by the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, which account for more than half of total BEV sales. Hyundai, which is responsible for the majority of the group’s plug-in vehicle sales, recorded 66% year-on-year (YoY) growth in wholesale shipments of 28,599 units, a new record. Monthly.
Hyundai alone sold 23,407 BEVs last month, marking a growth of 71%. Genesis, the group’s luxury car brand, has sold 1,765 all-electric vehicles, including models such as the GV60, GV70 and G80. This registered 206% YoY growth for the automaker.
