‘Hyenas’ is a team shooter by the creators of ‘Alien: Isolation’

Creative Assembly is best known for deliberately paced games like Alien: Isolation and the Total War series, but it’s a jump straight into the multiplayer action arena. The developer is working with Sega to introduce Hyenasa team-shooter coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC in 2023. The title draws inspiration from tech titles, but doesn’t take itself too seriously either ( or its gameplay).

You join teams of three to raid shopping malls on spaceships for coveted goods left behind by Martian Billionaire. You will have to compete with four other loot-seeking teams while simultaneously dealing with security systems, rent goons and zero gravity. Not only can you turn gravity on and off, but you can also use bridge goo and other special abilities to get the upper hand. And yes, it’s pretty silly – you can expect appearances from Richard Nixon masks, Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise, and Pez dispensers.

Creators are currently accept registration for closed alpha testing on PC. They have also made it clear that there will be no “pay to win” system. While that suggests you may have the option to purchase cosmetic items, your success depends solely on talent. It’s just a question of whether Hyenas would be good enough to force gamers away from multiplayer shooters like the Call of Duty series or Fortnite.
