Hunt under way for attacker after boy stabbed to death at nature reserve | UK News
A murder investigation has been launched after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in a “targeted attack” in Cambridge.
Police are searching for the attacker who attacked mid-afternoon at Logan’s Meadow, a small nature reserve by the River Orange.
Police were called to the scene by the ambulance service shortly before 3pm.
Despite the efforts of emergency personnel, the teenager was pronounced dead, the Cambridgeshire Constituent said.
Detective Superintendent Carl Foster, from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said police were following a number of leads but believed the attack was “targeted”.
Public appeal
He said: “While we cannot confirm the cause of death until an autopsy is conducted, we believe the boy was stabbed in a targeted attack.
“We are following a number of leads and conducting investigations to find those responsible, however no arrests have been made yet.”
It is believed that many members of the public were at the scene and spoke to paramedics, but left before police arrived. Police are urging them to be contacted by calling 101.
