Hummer EV’s Obstacle Extraction mode adds six inches of ride height
GMC Hummer EV owners will soon be able to lift their 9,000-pound vehicle nearly six more inches in the air, all thanks to a simple software update. Over the next few weeks, GMC will be adding a new “Extract Mode” – allowing drivers to raise their vehicle to avoid off-road obstacles – to all First models of all-electric pickups. Edition. Essentially, Extraction Mode allows drivers to raise their vehicle so they can avoid off-road obstacles.
As fun as the feature sounds, Drivers should pay attention that suspend mode can only be used at low speeds. Additionally, frequent use of this feature will result in your vehicle needing to cool down before it stalls again. In total, Extraction Mode will allow for a ground clearance of 15.9 inches, giving the vehicle an edge over other off-road capable vehicles such as Rivian R1T, Ram TRX, F150 Raptor and Bronco Raptor. Unfortunately, only a handful of GMC Hummer EV owners can actually try out this feature. Like Electrek Note, demand for the Hummer has outstripped GMC’s expectations, and the automaker is struggling to ramp up production. Only one Hummer EV was delivered last year, and the automaker has received more than 65,000 pre-orders for its Hummer EV pickup and SUV. If you’re in the market for an early version pickup, you’re out of luck: pre-orders for the roughly $110,000 vehicle are full. And if you are young for a slightly cheaper modelyou may have to wait two years.
