Hulu fires Justin Roiland from Solar Opposites and Koala Man after felony charges

After the news that Adult swimming has severed ties with Justin Roiland following allegations of domestic violence, Hulu has now split him on Solar Opposites and Koala Man. Diversity be the first to report.

“We have terminated our partnership with Justin Roiland,” 20th Television Animation and Hulu Originals said in a statement. Both Solar Opposites and Koala Man will continue without Roiland’s involvement. In October 2022, Hulu extended Solar Opposites until Season 5. Season 3 ended last summer.

Roiland provided the voices for both the lead roles in Rick and Morty, among others, and until this announcement voiced Korvo and various characters on Solar Opposites. Roiland is also the host and executive producer of both shows. Rick and Morty will continue with Dan Harmon as hosts, and the voices are expected to be recast. The 70-episode order will run until the end of Season 10. Season 6 aired on the Adult Swim network this past fall and Season 7 is currently in production.

Roiland pleaded not guilty to the charges filed, including one count of felony domestic assault with physical injury and one count of false imprisonment due to intimidation, violence, fraud and/or deception . The charges stem from an incident with his ex-girlfriend in August 2020, which led to his arrest and release on $50,000 bond. The next trial of the case is scheduled for April 27.

Co-creators Rick and Morty also resign from Squnch Games as a co-founder, in an announcement that was tweeted earlier on Wednesday.
