Hull KR has been fined £4,000 – half of which has been suspended – for homosexual chanting supporters

Hull KR have been fined £4,000 after chanting homophobic chants during their home games this season.

An investigation concluded that a homophobic slur was used by supporters during three separate matches against one or more opposing players.

Half of Hull KR’s fines have been suspended, while they also have to pay an additional £2,000 suspension penalty for fan misconduct earlier in this campaign.

The club has also vowed to improve the CCTV system at their Craven Park.

A Hull KR statement read. “According to the Rugby Football Federation (RFL) operating rules and the Enjoy the Game campaign, [the club] duty to take all reasonable steps to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all.

“The RFL has welcomed the plan to introduce an improved CCTV system for the 2023 season, continuing and accelerating its work with fan groups and managers, and a number of other initiatives, including the launched a text service for supporters to alert clubs to unacceptable behavior in real time.”
