Huawei P60: the latest rumors and everything we know so far
In many ways, Huawei is one of the most exciting and successful smartphone manufacturers on Earth. As such, its new flagships are always worthy of attention, with subsequent ones likely to appear as part of the Huawei P60 series.
The upcoming lineup looks set to include the Huawei P60 itself, along with the Huawei P60 Pro and perhaps the Huawei P60 Ultra or Huawei P60 Pro Plus. There could also be a more affordable Huawei P60E thrown into the mix, but we haven’t heard too much about that device yet.
All of these flagships could launch as early as 2023, so it probably won’t be long before they arrive and with one model before that – the Huawei P50Pro – achieved four stars in our reviews, they are also likely to be completed.
Below, you’ll find everything we’ve heard so far about the Huawei P60 series, including its release date, price, and possible specs.

Huawei P60: release date and price
According to a leaker posted on a Chinese website Weibo (opens in a new tab)The Huawei P60 series will be launched in March, although the exact date in March is still unknown.
We can’t look at previous models for clues, as Huawei hasn’t followed the annual release cycle, with the Huawei P50 landing back in August 2021.
However, it is worth noting that the August release is only for China, other countries will not receive the phone until at least January 2022 and some regions have to wait until March 2022. So it’s entirely possible that the Huawei P60 series won’t get it. was launched globally until a few months after its launch in China.
These are also phones that won’t land in the US, as Huawei isn’t actually there, and there’s a good chance they won’t land in Australia either – but likely at least one of the models in question. will come to the UK.
As for pricing, there’s no news yet, but for reference, the Huawei P50 Pro sells for £1,099.99 (about $1,345/AU$1,930). The standard Huawei P50 isn’t sold in the regions we cover, but in China the starting price is ¥4,488 (about $660 / £540 / AU$950), so the price of the new phone may correspond to those levels.
Huawei P60: design and display
Our closest look at the possible design of the Huawei P60 series – and specifically the Huawei P60 Pro – came from renders created by someone named Hoindi (opens in a new tab). These are based on previously leaked information, so they are not official. Therefore, you should take them with a little salt.
Despite that, you can see one below, and they show a flat screen with a punch-hole camera in the center on the front, while on the back there’s a fairly typical (although) positioned camera block. which is not a typical design, with a gold ring surrounding the central lens).
The back – presumably made of glass – also appears to be slightly curved towards the frame.
While we wouldn’t consider these images to be gospel, we’ve seen the same thing in other places, with leakers @RODENT950 (opens in a new tab) Share the same render on Twitter.
Shared across multiple tweets, these renders show the Huawei P60 Pro – and presumably other models, although they all look similar – in a variety of colors, including black, orange, blue, pink and white.

Most of these have a gold camera ring, but not all are. However, while the origins of some of these renderings are not entirely clear, @RODENT950 specifically states that some are concepts based on leaked images of case for phone (opens in a new tab).
That means the details may not be entirely accurate, but the core geometry of the phone (and camera blocks) should be correct – assuming the circumstances (pictured below) are legit. In addition to these images, some sources also suggest that some or all of the phones in the series will have IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
As for the display, the Huawei P60 Pro will feature a 6.6-inch 1440 x 3200 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, according to the source. My driver (opens in a new tab). However, there’s no news on the display specs of the standard Huawei P60 – or the rumored top-end model, which could be called the P60 Ultra or the P60 Pro Plus.
Huawei P60: camera and battery
Based on leaker @ RODENT950 (opens in a new tab)The Huawei P60 has a triple rear camera with a 52MP IMX789 main sensor, a 50MP IMX858 ultra-wide camera and a 16MP IMX351 sensor, which we guess will likely be used with the telephoto lens.
The claim the same source (opens in a new tab) that Huawei P60 Pro has a 50 MP IMX888 main camera, a 50 MP IMX858 ultra-wide camera and a 64 MP telephoto camera with an OV64B sensor.
Both phones could have variable aperture on the main lens, as seen on the Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Huawei P60 Pro could have a 32MP selfie camera.
Details about the vanilla phone’s selfie camera — or any of the P60 Ultra’s camera specs — are unclear.
As for the battery, the Huawei P60 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, according to the same source that supplies the phone’s camera specs (via MyDrivers (opens in a new tab)). In the same article, the website wrote 5,500mAh, but that could be a typo, as the picture of the spec sheet shows 5,000mAh.
As with so much else about the Huawei P60 series, the battery specifications of the other models are still a mystery.
Huawei P60: specifications and features
According to same source for most of this information (opens in a new tab) (@RODENT950), the Huawei P60 series will use the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. That’s a bit dated for now, as most 2022 flagships are expected to use the newer version. Snapdragon 8 2nd Generation”. However, it is still a premium option.
Disappointingly, but not surprisingly, this is said to be the 4G version of the chipset, so like other recent Huawei phones, there probably won’t be any 5G support here.
What these phones will obviously have is emergency satellite communication, which seems to be the new big thing in the mobile space – whether or not the feature is available outside of China remains to be seen. unclear.
It’s also unclear what RAM, storage or software these phones will have – although they certainly won’t have access to the Google Play Store, since no modern Huawei phone does.
