How to Weaponize Roast Turkey and Other Baldur’s Gate 3 Christmas Questions

Last week I talked to Founder and director of Larian Swen Vincke about latest major update arrive Baldur Gate 3and 1.0 release roadmap. But it’s also December 16, so I find it appropriate to waste his time asking a series of hilarious seasonal questions that blend Baldur’s Gate 3’s love and goodwill, with war strategy. Win and break away companion of Christmas. Did you see what I did there?

My questions are in bold and Vincke’s answers are not below – and they are both fun and instructive. I hope that the romantic comedy about visiting Wyll’s house becomes a winter DLC in the future.

What class and subclass will Santa be?
He said that he was a Paladin with an Oath of Devotion. So who am I to disagree with Santa? He told us. But personally I think of him as a Rogue. I will consider him a Rogue, Arcane Trickster

Who would be the best companion to get in Secret Santa and what would you give them as a Christmas present?
Oh my God. This is like a “favorite companion” question, right? I have to deal with the writers of these companions, so can I get through this?

Okay, maybe… who do you think is the easiest to buy?
[Long pause while he thinks very seriously about the question]
Astarion, of course. I just need to get him some innocent bystanders. I just hope that anyone would do the same – like, he’s very easygoing, he’s very open about who he feeds, so you just go for it, it’s okay.

I say again: this guy.

Which ability from Baldur’s Gate 3 do you think would be most useful on Christmas Day?
So sure… Stability will definitely be! Constitution or, possibly Wisdom; choose which one you want to choose.

You are adding a whole roast turkey as a weapon to the game. How would you weaponize a turkey in Baldur’s Gate 3, and what effect would it have?
Well, obviously I’ll let you Animate Dead on it. That would be how I start using the schtick… and I might give it the ability to bomb. We haven’t had carpet bombing. So we can have a zombie-flying turkey bomb your enemies with eggs that produce a Stink Cloud; I think it will be pretty cool.

Okay, this can be a tough one. Are you familiar with the Christmas romance genre, such as a powerful lawyer who returns to her hometown and falls in love with a country boy?
Hmmm.

How would you set up a Netflix-style Christmas rom com in boulders gate three using the characters at your disposal?
[Extremely long pause; deep thought]
…OH! Wyll – a Warlock in the game, and one who has a pact with a Cambion named Mizora – returns to his homeland and encounters the demon he was traveling with. No pact…

This is not Wyll’s Cambion, I just want to illustrate that they are great demons

*CRY*
…and from there, apparently, the story goes on…

Who do you want to invite to Christmas dinner in the game? Is that too close to a favorite companion question again?
I wouldn’t name a companion would I? So bear owl. That would be fun. Yes, Baby Bear Owl. And we can go into the woods and like, we can go hiking together. Baby Bear Owl will be friendly and will not attack anyone. So yeah, that’s it.

I guess as long as you have solved the Mother Owl first.
Well, there’s that problem, right? But I mean, then the Baby Bear will eat its mother, because that’s what it will do if you leave it alone. That’s really what I want to show in my streambut i messed it up!

Disclosure: Adam Smith used to work here and now he is the main writer for BG3, but since he has left he will only receive coal in his inventory.
