Goodbye, Seine. Hello traffic jam!
2024 Olympic will conclude tonight, with a final salute from Paris and a nod to Hollywood as Paris hands the torch to Los Angeles, which will host the 2028 Games. The handover ceremony is Paris’ last chance to celebrate what many consider to be a great Olympics, with standout performances from a number of athletes, including Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky, and a chance for LA to give the world a taste of what to expect in four years’ time.
And the California city looks set to lean on its cinematic roots, with widespread reports that Tom Cruise will appear in an important way and performed stunts during the closing ceremony.
While closing ceremonies aren’t typically as must-see as the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, they’re still a celebration of the Games, with athletes coming together.
