How to connect PS4 controller to smartphone

According to mobile game advertising firm Udonis, the mobile game market produced Revenue is expected to reach $90 billion by 2023. However, since most mobile devices are limited to a touchscreen interface, the smartphone gaming experience is not optimal.

Luckily, you can take your mobile gaming experience from uninspiring to console-like by pairing an actual console controller with your phone. As it turns out, some games compatible with console controllers.

Let’s learn how to use the Playstation 4 Dualshock 4 wireless controller with your iPhone.

1. Choose your controller and mount

First of all, I chose a PS4 controller for this example because cheap PS4 controller replicas are available on Amazon. If you don’t already have a compatible console controller, you don’t need to spend $60 or more on an original PS4 or PS5 controller — this copy It costs only $18 and is also suitable for mobile gaming.

2. Pair the controller with your phone

Whether you buy a stand or make your own, the next step is to pair the controller with your phone. To put the controller into sharing mode, press and hold the Share and PS buttons until the light on the back of the controller flashes rapidly.

On your iPhone, open Bluetooth from the Settings menu and find the controller under Other Devices on the screen:

Tap on the controller name (in my case Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller) to connect to the phone.

Setting up Bluetooth on an Android phone is similar. Go to Bluetooth settings, find discoverable devices, and connect.

To test the gameplay on iPhone, I downloaded Call of Duty: Mobile from the App Store.

What’s funny is that when you first start the game, it will recognize the controller, but then it will say “Controller cannot be used until the tutorial is complete”. So you have to learn how to play without the controller first, even if you have it synced properly.

After completing the tutorial, Call of Duty: Mobile has a full list of control commands. The image below looks a lot like an Xbox controller, except the D-pad and joysticks are reversed.

Putting aside the mystery of implementation choices, as the image at the top of this article shows, the controller can indeed control games on the iPhone.
