“You know what happens between me and my Calvin? Nothing,” Brooke shields tell the camera in her now infamous Calvin Klein advertisement. At just 15 years old, Brooke became the face of the brand’s jeans in 1980, starring in a series of proactive TV and newspaper ads that sent the world into a frenzy.

in her new documentary Adorable babynow available on Hulu, Brooke examines that period in her life. While she has tackled controversial ads in the past, she admitted for the first time that she was “naive” in ignoring how erotic the campaign was. “I took the opportunity because it was action,” Brooke explains in the documentary about why she and her mother Shield Terri, agreed to take the job in the first place. “It was just a memorization exercise, in literary references – I had to be smart to do it.”

As soon as the first commercial aired or the first billboard of a teenage model was erected in Times Square, a wave of outrage from parents and adults arose. Many asserted that the ads were openly pornographic, even calling them child pornography. The documentary shows a teenage Brooke sitting through countless interviews, defending Calvin posing and being branded as a sex kitten. Today, Brooke looks back on that time a little differently.

“There was nothing in me that ever had the idea that it was sex,” she says in the document, but with a laugh, she admits, “that was a bit naive.”

However, the view of documentary and the stance that Brooke took during the campaign was that people sexually assaulted her, she never did it to herself. While talking about the documentary with Stephen Colbert Last week, she addressed the scandal when Stephen explained that CBS, at the time, refused to run ads.

“The thought that you can take that one line and set a precedent for a revolutionary ad, I mean, I do this whole kind of acrobatics, recounting what the meaning of genes is,” she added. How basic are they? and identify the characteristics of an individual and blah, blah. I’ve memorized all of this. It was a long minute. The next day I have a pop quiz. And that’s what genes are and I just recited the whole thing and got an A+. And I was like, ‘make sure the business doesn’t destroy me.’ And to my surprise they always seem to draw the lowest common denominator with me.”

As for the man himself, Calvin Klein behind letting the 15-year-old actress – supermodel in the campaign to refresh two hit movies, green dress And Adorable baby. “Bbrooke has a fresh, sexy beauty,” says the 80-year-old designer EVERYBODY. “We launched jeans and wanted to say something new… It was fun, innocent and yes, terribly sexy.”
