How does human gratification develop in young children? Signs to recognize and what parents should do to avoid

According to Dr. Nicole LePera, here are some ways to heal people:

1. Start connecting with yourself, your own needs, + your own body. This step is the most important because as a child your needs often go unmet. Healing involves starting to meet one’s own needs before the needs of others.

2. As a child, letting someone down could mean being punished, embarrassed, rejected, or completely ignored. This is scary + painful. As an adult, recovery is about understanding that disappointment is a part of life. And adults are likely to feel frustrated.

3. Boundaries are your friends. Pleasant people have no boundaries because they are often not modeled. You are not responsible for how people react to your boundaries – that is their responsibility.

4. Pay attention every time you make a decision. From simple decisions (to have dinner, what to wear on a date) to bigger decisions like (choice of a career, where to live, who your partner is or how to handle a crisis), take Note how often you relate to others. If you find yourself constantly getting advice in your input, you may be paying too much attention to perception. Before consulting others, sit with yourself. Start asking yourself what you want, think, and need. This is the path to confidence.
