How Democracy Is Under Threat Across the Globe

A young outsider, Nayib Bukele, won the presidency in 2019 promising change. During his tenure, however, he has limited basic rightsJudges purged, imprisoned thousands of people with little due process and deployed the military, all of which he called emergency measures to combat crime.
