House of the Dragon episode 5 trailer is out. HBO has revealed a preview for next week’s episode of the Game of Thrones prequel series, teasing a royal wedding that will erupt in bloodshed in the Targaryen family. Titled “We Light the Way,” episode 5 of House of the Dragon begins shortly after King Viserys (Paddy Considine) announces his marriage to strengthen the alliance between the Targaryen and Velaryon families. House of the Dragon episode 5 premieres September 18 at 6:30 a.m. IST / September 17 at 9 p.m. ET on Disney+ Hotstar and HBO Max, respectively.
Trailer for Dragon’s House episode 5 begins with a marriage proposal, when Viserys decides to marry his daughter Princess Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) for Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan) – son of Princess Rhaenys (The best New Year’s Eve) and Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussant). Marriage would form a direct link between the most powerful houses in the kingdom, further reinforcing Rhaenyra’s claim to the Iron Throne. “I hope to herald the second age of dragons, as he prepares to evacuate his seat in the future,” said Viserys.
House of the Dragon episode 4 review: Double standards caused a royal scandal
The marriage proposal was made after shocking developments in Dragon’s House episode 4, – appeared on Disney + Hotstar and HBO Max – where Rhaenyra and her uncle Prince Daemon (Carpenter) had their first romantic encounter, although it was cut short in the end. With the seeds planted for their future relationship, the princess is currently focusing on her royal wedding. It is worth noting that in the legend, Laenor was a famous homosexual in the lands, disinterested in women and surrounding himself with handsome young men. Since all Viserys cared about was finding an heir to the throne, he presented the idea of marriage anyway.
The House of the Dragon episode 5 trailer was then cut to show the aftermath of such an alliance. “Rhaenyra’s succession will be tested. Knives will come,” Rhaenys told her husband, as a band of men led by Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) appeared at the royal wedding. As is tradition with Game of Thrones the story is also bloody, with Cole and his ruthless group slaughtering all of the members at the ceremony, with the primary targets being Rhaenyra and Laenor.
Amidst all the chaos in the House of the Dragon episode 5 trailer, Sir Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) predicted the king’s death, stating that Rhaenyra’s succession would lead to war. “Prepare for Aegon to rule,” he told his tearful daughter Alicent (Emily Carey), who married Viserys in episode 3, giving birth to a child – Aegon Targaryen.
Earlier this month, House of the Dragon co-presenter Miguel Sapochnik step down from the series. Are from season 2 onwards, he will be credited as an executive producer on the Game of Thrones prequel series, making way for Alan Taylor To take over. Taylor – known for his work on early episodes of Game of Thrones – will be teaming up with Ryan J. Condal and providing upcoming seasons for House of the Dragon, in close collaboration with the author. George RR Martin.
New House of the Dragon episodes air every Monday at 6:30 a.m. IST on Disney+ Hotstar in India, and Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max wherever available. Season one consists of 10 episodes.
