Alpine sold it already A110 in standard, GT and A110 WILL guise, and even a ‘South Beach Colourwaybut a sportier, more focused version of the A110 R is coming. The French company hinted at the new car by posting a teaser video with the engine revving sound and the R logo, as well as posting images of some of the new components.
The engine going through the gears sounds very similar to the turbocharged four-cylinder found on the current A110, albeit with the addition of turbo buzz. The post also has the description “First clue: done!”, alluding to the engine testing being finalized.
We’ve also seen an A110 with an ‘R’ badge in the past with the look of an R-GT racing car. While we didn’t expect the A110 R to have a six-speed sequential transmission and roll cage, it could get a tuned version of the 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder R-GT that pumps out more than 300 horsepower. force.
The A110 R will be fully unveiled at the Suzuka F1 Grand Prix weekend in Japan on October 4. Alpine has also revealed that the ‘R’ stands for radical, aided by new images showing some performance tweaks that it should boast.
Alpine says the A110 R will be “an extreme version. Lighter. Sharper. And even more inspired by racing,” the company also says it has been designed for the racetrack but will remain road legal.
From the image, we can see that the new front bumper will have a stronger lower splitter and the swan neck rear spoiler will also generate more downforce. There’s also a new side skirt fin, a new rear bumper and a vented bonnet. To save weight, the roof can be made from carbon fiber.
Inside, we can see six-point harnesses and bucket seats, although not quite as focused as the pair of Sabelt seats found in the R-GT race car.
Paris Motor Show attendees will be able to see Alpine’s latest creation in metal from October 17.
