Textile waste is a global environmental and economic concern, with more than 50% of fast fashion clothing being discarded within a year. Sustainable fashion design requires a combination of creativity and innovation, taking into account the source of materials, the impact of production and use, and the product’s ability to be recycled at the end of its life. longevity.

This year’s finalists sought out unique waste lines to create their collection, which includes hotel bed sheets, kimono and silk obi, and broken deadstock knit collars. Many of the finalists also use zero-waste patterns and other circular design techniques to further enhance the sustainability of their designs. Next, the 10 finalists will send their complete collection – including four looks and one digital outfit – to Hong Kong for professional photography, featuring tailoring products.
