Hitman 3: IO Interactive Delay Freelancer mode to the second half of 2022, revealing a new look for the map of Ambrose island

IO Interactive shared Its plans for Year 2 of Hitman 3 back in Januaryrevealed Elusive Target Arcade, a PC VR release, planned World of Assassination Trilogy to gain Xbox Game Pass and a new mode called Freelancer.

This new mode was set to release this spring but in a new mode update Released by the studio today, Freelancer has a new target window: the second half of 2022. IO Interactive says it sees Freelancer as “the next evolution of Hitman and a whole new way to interact with the world. and characters” it builds on the World of Assassination universe over the past seven years. Because of how “extensive and relevant” Freelancer is, the team said they need more time to work on it.

“The truth is it was a luxury decision for us,” IO Interactive wrote in a blog post. “Hitman 3 was a success, and with that, we were able to give our team more time to tighten the latches and ensure that the mode is as close to our ambition as possible. We want it to land well and become a platform for Hitman players to enjoy this game world for a long time. In fact, we’ve had several rounds of internal testing and we’ve even shared playable builds with some of our core and trusted community members for feedback. feedback and sharing insights after lengthy trials. This was all done on their own machines and in their own homes to really recreate what it would have been like when we launched this mode.

“The feedback from the tests has been largely positive and the regime is in very good shape. As we said, we’re going to take some more time to tighten up the mode and improve a few elements that we think will greatly improve the gameplay experience. While we work on those improvements, we’re also set to dive deeper into the mode and share more than you might expect. With all that in mind, we’re currently aiming to release the Freelancer game mode for Hitman 3 in the second half of 2022. We think it will be well worth the wait. ”

IO has changed its Year 2 plan to address this delay, including adding a few more prominent Contract rounds than would normally be released throughout this month. The studio has also revealed that new content planned for April has been carried over to the May 24 update, which includes the usual ET Arcade Unlocks and the word “Hitman 3 ET is back on the menu”. You can check out the new May 2 roadmap below:

As you can see, the May 24 update, dubbed Patch 3.110, will also include PC RayTracing. Furthermore, IO Interactive has revealed that their new map, currently called Ambrose Island, will be added to Hitman 3 this July.

“This new map will feature a compelling story for Hitman fans, as it takes place before the events of Hitman 3 and fills in a few gaps from the plot of World of Assassination,” IO Interactive wrote in post on his blog. “We’re excited to share more details in the run-up to release, and we’re even more excited to show you another look at the place in all its glory right now. hour.”
