Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said today that he will form his cabinet after the parliamentary session, amid reports of intense lobbying for ministries between factions within the National Assembly. society delays this process.

Mr Sukhu was sworn in as minister on Sunday after a brief dispute over the post with at least two other candidates, including State Parliament Speaker Pratibha Singh, wife of former Minister Virbhadra Singh. Mukesh Agnihotri, considered the third candidate, was sworn in as Mr Sukhu’s deputy.

Pratibha Singh’s son, Vikramaditya Singh, an MLA, was considered by many to be the Deputy Minister, but that did not happen.

Speaking to NDTV, Mr Sukhu said he was keen to honor Virbhardra Singh’s legacy and would consider his son for his cabinet.

“He is a young man. We will certainly think about it, but after the session,” the minister said.

He also denied any rift following the factional Congress’ victory in Himachal. Congress won the Himachal elections last week by winning 40 of the state’s 68 seats. BJP won 25.

The internal rivalry fueled speculation that the BJP, already out of power, would attempt “Operation Lotus” – a code for MLAs to shift allegiance to the BJP to overthrow opposing governments. .

“There is nothing to fear about Operation Lotus. It is a creation of the media. We are united. We will bring all MLAs with us in Himachal. Congress will complete 5 years of leadership. rights. Don’t worry,” Mr. Sukhu said.

Earlier today, Mr. Sukhu met with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and Rajiv Shukla about forming the cabinet.

“There is no challenge (in forming a government). The cabinet is made up of elected MLAs, CMs are elected from the MLAs. So there is no challenge at all,” Sukhu was quoted as saying. told ANI.
