Himachal Cabinet to be expanded on Sunday: Raj Bhawan | India News
SHIMLA: The much-awaited expansion of Himachal Pradesh’s Cabinet will take place on Sunday, according to Raj Bhawan the source. Sources said on Saturday the swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers will take place in Raj Bhawan at 10am on January 8.
Prime Minister Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu earlier in the day said he had handed over the list of potential appointees to his post to the Minister Conference approved by superiors.
Cabinet could expand on Sunday or later, he told reporters here after returning from Delhi, where he held discussions with top party leaders on the issue.
There has been much speculation about the names of the new ministers since then. Sukhu and his deputy Mukesh Agnihotri was sworn in nearly a month ago after the National Assembly’s victory in the parliamentary elections.
The list has been handed over to the high command and the expansion will only be made after approval by the Speaker of the National Assembly. Kharge MallikarjunSukhu said.
There are 10 vacancies in the cabinet as the total number of ministers, including chief minister and deputy chief minister, in Himachal Pradesh cannot exceed 12.
