Highfield Princess ready for a turf clash with Golden Pal

Highfield Princess | Scoop Dyga

Coach John Quinn “happy” with three-time Group 1 winner Highfield Princess (Fr) (Night Of Thunder {Ire}) before the start of the US$1 million GI Breeders’ Cup sprint in Keeneland on November 5. The 5-year-old boy tied for six. on course 16, two got inside the American sprinter’s crack Golden Pal (Uncle Mo). She’s also three pounds lighter than the pony, and Quinn is enjoying a clash with Wesley Ward’s intern. Ward also has many Group 1 winners Campanelle (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) (booth four) and Catch me red (Pioneerof The Nile) (booth seven) signed up for the Keeneland competition.

“She’s in good form as you can see,” Quinn said. “She’s fine herself, she’s ready and hopefully we’ll get her there. She marked very well; her work is very good and she still looks very good so i am satisfied with her.

“Golden Pal is the best sprinter they have had in America in a long time. I watched him win at Keeneland in the Breeders Cup test two weeks ago. He did all the runs; he shot out like a bullet. I think his stall hasn’t closed yet he got out so fast. He had good control and broke records. I thought he was good but so was she.”

Quinn noted that Breeders’ Cup is always on his radar for G1 Prix winners Maurice de Gheest, G1 Nunthorpe S. and G1 Flying Five S.

“The Breeder’s Cup is something we’ve been thinking about all year,” he added. “I told my son, Sean, in the spring, if this chubby girl gets 7 to 10 pounds off, I’d love to see her around Keeneland with over 5 ½ pins around a bend. She won a bend at both Chelmsford and Haydock, she’s very good left handed. The rewards are awesome but the fact that she’s good enough and we’re happy with her is really the iron man.

“They had a very dry time in Keeneland. She’s in great form on the fast court, but you wouldn’t like it to be hard kicked. I believe there is some rain forecast. She won in every way, but I just hope they get some rain and a good pitch.”

As long as the colorist of Trainers House Enterprises, Ltd. Her Breeders’ Cup exit started off smoothly, so there’s every chance of her coming back as a 6-year-old.

“If she is suitable, good, and interested in it, he will [owner John Fairley] race her next year,” Quinn said. “It’s amazing that he’s thinking of keeping her for next year.”
