High cholesterol: Three signs you may have a genetic disease – ‘Easy to miss’
The charity says other signs include raised yellow patches around your eyes and on your eyelids, or white arcs or rings around the edge of the iris, the colored part of the eye.
It adds that if your doctor thinks you have FH, you probably have a cholesterol test.
You may be tested for cholesterol again, this time to look at all the different types of fats, called lipids, in your blood. This is called the lipid profile, or the full fasting lipid profile.
