Legend of the industry Hideki Kamiya, who left PlatinumGames last yearrecently mentioned that he is still interested in creating new entries in the Okay And Handsome Joe series because both stories are unfinished.
In part two of “Unblocked Memories with Ikumi Nakamura” by UnseenKamiya mentioned that he went so far as to fill in Recent Capcom Survey and made a direct request for a new Viewtiful Joe game after he noticed the survey didn’t have the series on its shortlist.
“I’d be happy. It’s just because there are 8 people playing Viewtiful Joe that people don’t go crazy. That game ended halfway too. So I need to finish it. I want to finish it.
“The last survey Capcom did, they didn’t have Viewtiful Joe on the shortlist. So I sent in a response saying, ‘I’m Hideki Kamiya, let me make a sequel to Viewtiful Joe. I wrote it and sent it in, and it wasn’t even included in the survey results. The director himself is asking to make the game again, but they won’t even talk about it. What the hell, Capcom?”
Kamiya also made some comments on the popularity of Okay in a Capcom survey and reiterated that he wanted to complete the game’s storyline because he felt unhappy about having to leave “halfway through”.
“You know, the story ended halfway through, so leaving it as it is, I feel bad… I think creators have a duty to create sequels that fans want to see. Even though I may sound arrogant, it’s been a long time since I continued Okami. But I still feel like I haven’t completed my duty, so Capcom, please – let’s do it together.”
Again, this is not the first time we have heard of this. Kamiya wants to create a new entry for this series – So what, Capcom?
