Hero Xoom scooter: price, variants, features, pre-orders

Xoom brings some exciting features first in its segment, at an attractive introductory price.

Hero has launched the first new product of the year, in the form of Xoom – a new feature-rich 110cc scooter. This will be the third in Hero’s line of 110cc scooters, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

Hero Xoom: the first feature in the segment

There are some fancy features on the new Xoom, including LED headlights, taillights and DRLs, as well as a fully digital device with Bluetooth connectivity. But the thing that is likely to raise many eyebrows is the light when cornering – something that is often unheard of in this segment or even many of the segments above. The scooter uses a gyroscope to detect the angle of incline, then illuminates a row of lights on either side of the scooter, depending on which direction you’re turning.

Hero Xoom: same engine as Maestro Edge 110, Pleasure+

Powering this fresh-looking scooter is a familiar engine: the 110.9 cc engine that did duty in the Maestro Edge 110 and Pleasure+ scooters. Output levels are also identical, at 8.15hp and 8.7Nm, and it also features Hero’s i3S start/stop technology (on the top two variants). In our experience with this engine on other models, we found it to be quite noisy and quick, although improvement is one area for improvement.

Interestingly, Hero says the scooter is not yet OBD2 compatible, meaning it will need at least a slight update before the April 2023 deadline, when all two-wheelers go on sale in India. Degrees will have to be OBD2 compliant.

Hero Xoom: old frame, new suspension setup

Hung says the Xoom’s basic frame is shared with its other 110cc scooters, but improvements have been made to this model. However, the suspension setup is completely new. It follows the same format as the Maestro and Pleasure, with telescopic forks and monoshock, but it has been tuned differently for this scooter and the focus is on a sportier experience.

Hero Xoom: familiar but new design

Xoom looks like a familiar character, with an appearance quite similar to the recently released Hero launches electric scooter, Vida V1. Much of the bodywork is quite different, though, and the Xoom has sharper edges, cuts and creases than we’re used to seeing in the Hero. Color schemes vary between variants, with the LX getting only one option, the VX being offered three options and the ZX getting four.

Hero Xoom: price and variants

The Xoom is being offered in three variants: LX, VX and ZX, in ascending price order. The base LX version has semi-digital equipment and 130mm drum brakes at the front, lacking Bluetooth connectivity, disc brakes or a start/stop system. On the mid-range VX, you get full digital equipment but no Bluetooth connectivity, and you also get fatter rear tires and i3S technology. Exclusive to the top ZX variant are Bluetooth, diamond-cut alloy wheels, 190mm front disc brakes and cornering lights.

The prices of the three variants are Rs 68,599, Rs 71,799 and Rs 76,699 respectively, with pre-orders expected to open on February 1. These are introductory prices and Hero has yet to mention when they will be. will take effect before they are increased in price.
